Four cats live in our café in Rovaniemi. They are called Vincent, Ludwig, Cecilia and Musti, and they are all siblings with each other. They were born in a good home in Maalahti, from where they moved to Rovaniemi. They have been raised in the café, which is now their territory and home. The cats have been socializing with people since they were kittens and are also used to children of all ages.
Unlike other cat cafés we don't charge an entrance fee. You are welcome to socialize with the cats, as long as you buy something from the café.
We are happy to tell you more about our cats and show which toys each of them likes. We can give little cat treats for kids to give to the cats.
Lunch time for our cats is at 14.00 (2pm) and dinner is served at 17.30 (5.30pm)
Vincent (Chief Executive Officer)
Hello! My name is Vincent and I have appointed myself as Chief Executive Officer. We also appointed some other officers in the café and made sure that we get paid according to our worth!
I am the largest in our family and sometimes my people suspect that I steal food from other food bowls than my own. I, personally, think I'm just big boned. I am calm and I enjoy life. I have a special 90 degree angle in my tail, which raises questions from time to time. My tail isn't broken, however, but it's a hereditary bone growth disorder. Hence I was given my artistic name, Vincent Van Gogh. You can read more about my light roasted coffee here:
Musti (Vice President)
I am Musti, the Vice President of Café Freija. I am in charge of activities in our café. In my shiny black velvet suit, I prance around the café, accept scratching and hunt for toys. I can do a front and back flips and a fierce plunge. Since I was a kitten, I have been a free spirit and I'm not one to sit on your lap. I have heard about some customers who got me to sit on their laps and I do have some vague memories of that. Originally, my name was supposed to be Nelson or Barack, but since I was just so black, I ended up being Musti, which means black (in Finnish, musta = black). I do have my own dark roasted coffee, you can read about it here:
Ludvig (Financial Manager)
My name is Ludwig, according to the brilliant composed Beethoven. Even though my mom hoped I would become a musician, I have become the most athletic cat and the Financial Manager of our café here in Rovaniemi. I run faster and climb higher than others. As a financial expert I closely follow the usage of whipped cream by our customers. I am politically active and I am currently drafting an citizen's initiative, which states that 5 % of all whipped cream and other sweet sauces should go to cats. The tea selection of our café has been named after me, you can read more about it here:
Cecilia (Cat and Human Resource Manager)
I have been named after the British astronomer Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin. My favorite toy is a glitter whisk, which sparkles like the stars! Tinkling balls have also been my favorites since I was a kitten. If you sit on the window seat on a sheep hide, I might just climb to sit on your lap. Even though I'm a girl, I'm pretty big. Me and my brothers have been wondering, if we have some distant noble relatives, since our shining furs have received so many compliments. The chocolate selection or our café is named after me, you can read more about it here:
